about
Hailing from a similar emotional sphere as “Quit Your Day Job,” “Savings” is an indictment on the societal misalignment between ideals and incentives. The production on this song is far darker, exploring industrial electronics and prog rock aesthetics. Its intricate beat was written on a computer and then learned by Summer to be recorded live on drum kit, giving it a unique pacing that is on the edge of falling apart, yet never quite does. This balancing act, a sonic representation of a system always persisting despite feeling like it is on the brink of collapse.
lyrics
oh
what you save for
what you saving for
cause you
you don’t a clue
you always insist
comforts all you want
comforts all you want
comforts all you
what you save for
what you saving for
i think i might know
greedy til you're
buried in gold
call it what you want
call it what you want
call it what you
